Some of us were born with thick lustrous hair yet most of us, no matter what we were born with – may wish to rejuvenate the health of the hair by returning to the foundation – in this case the vital essence of the kidneys and liver – to improve the quality of our strands.
The foods we eat definitely contribute to the luster of our hair and, for the purpose of this article we’ll narrow it down to the most important: SALADS! Green Salads with radishes, peppers, mustard greens, arugula, red onions, garlic – any or all of these sulfur rich foods added to other greens of choice – coated with healthy oils such as extra virgin olive oil, hemp oil, flax oil and/or avocado – eaten at least five days weekly – will contribute to the resiliency of your hair, skin, fingernails, tendons, and joints.
Sulfur plays a major role in the formation of connective tissue, collagen, and keratin. What happens when we add sulfur rich foods to our diet is our tissues, skin, hair, and teeth gain strength, elasticity, and flexibility. Because sulfur builds collagen and keratin, sulfur is, in essence the beauty mineral – the mineral that makes our hair, nails, and skin strong and shiny. MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl- Methane), an organic form of sulfur taken daily with Vitamin C and a large glass of fresh water will promote flexibility in your joints, tendons, muscles, brain, skin and hair. Bottom line: Sulfur is one of the key elements that you must have in your diet for amazing hair. Using a boar bristle brush, and, like some of us girls were told decades ago, brushing one hundred strokes per night, if done gently, will bring circulation to the scalp and may also add luster to the hair.
